Review: Nighthawks
Nighthawks marks the first release from writer Richard Cobbett's micro-studio The Curiosity Engine, and the first game from publisher Wadjet Eye Games which falls outside of their usual point-and-click remit. They've not strayed too far from the path – it's still an adventure RPG, just a text–based one: think Fallen London (which, funnily enough, Cobbett previously wrote for) or the Citizen Sleeper series.
I think it's fair to say that the game has been a long time in the making – eight years ago today it was in the midst of its Kickstarter campaign aiming for a 2020 release, and only now is it finally seeing the light of day… or not, because, you know: vampires. That's not an insignificant amount of time for the less immortal of the game's backers, so, was the wait worth it now that there is finally something for them to sink their teeth into? (Fair warning: these aren't going to stop.)
